All these terms sound like Greek and Latin to you, don’t they? Well, if you think about it carefully there is really nothing that is like rocket science for you. It is just that they are software’s that need to be installed in the computer for various reasons and various purposes. Software is something that is not tangible but still you see it. In layman's terms something that you can see but not touch. Hardware refers to the aspect that can be touched like the monitor, keyboard, CPU and the likes of it. These software’s are available in the form of a CD that needs to be loaded in your PC for the desired function. You may not realize but we all use software’s everyday in our lives. Why do we need softwares ?
Softwares are programs that help;
Like mentioned earlier software’s are required to give a sequence of instructions that need to be given to the hardware to function correctly, to put it in real simple terms. The software is loaded in the computer storage called the RAM (Random Access Memory) once this software is loaded and accepted by the computer then it begins to execute the program in the computer. Software packages as they are commonly known are licensed and authorize the person the legal right to use it, as there are lots of imitations in the market for one software.
Types of software's :
Three types of software’s are Application Software, Programming Software and System Software. To begin with the application software helps the user at the terminal to perform one more tasks that are specific in nature. While the programming software helps the computer programmer to write the software programs and helps them to use different computer languages with maximum utility. And similarly the system software helps in running the computer system and computer hardware smoothly on the computer.
The system software includes device drivers, windowing system, operating system and diagnostic tools. While the tools for programming system are linkers, compilers, text editors, debuggers, interpreters to write the programs onto the computer system. The application software includes computer games, educational software and databases. Businessmen are known to use this system the most because it helps them maintain their database in place as records of the business dealings. Infact, it will not be wrong if said that almost all activities carried out by human beings today use software in some way
